# ShopPrentice Studio

Authentication: OAuth 2.1 in the user's browser (authorization code + PKCE S256,
  dynamic client registration). The MCP client discovers it automatically from
  the 401 challenge and the protected-resource metadata below.
Required scope: studio
Do not request an API key or manually supplied bearer token.
Do not confuse this hosted Studio MCP with the open-source Fusion 360
  woodworking skill or a local Fusion 360 MCP (localhost:9100) — they are
  different tools; this endpoint is the studio's own engine.

## Connect

- Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http shopprentice https://shopprentice.com/mcp
- Codex CLI: codex mcp add shopprentice --url https://shopprentice.com/mcp
- Any MCP client: add https://shopprentice.com/mcp as a Streamable HTTP server with no headers,
  then complete the browser sign-in it opens.
- The server name ("shopprentice" above) is yours to choose; any name works.
  Use the SAME name everywhere (add, login, config) or the client reports
  "unknown MCP server".

## Server shows 0 tools or "not logged in"

The sign-in is not finished; an MCP client lists no tools until it is.
- Codex CLI: codex mcp login <the name you gave it>   (then a new session)
- Claude Code: /mcp -> pick the server -> Authenticate
Never build by driving the website (https://shopprentice.com) in a browser: no chat, no
waitlist, no project pages. The MCP tools are the way to build. If you have
none, stop and ask the user to finish the sign-in.

## What the tools do

Write a parametric furniture script (write_script), build it (build) until
validation passes, then read outputs: cut list (get_cutlist), plans (get_plans),
a rendered view (get_view / render_hero), strength report, explode animation.
The MCP resource shopprentice://skill carries the authoring skill; load it
before writing any script. If a tool errors, a description steers you wrong or
something you need is missing, call report_issue — the site owner reads every
report.
